3 Dogs, All Alike in Dignity ...

L-R : Ebony, Maggie + Oliver, Purty

For a week this month, we had a visitor at our house : Ebony, a 150-pound Newfoundland is staying at Our Dog House while her owner is on a business trip.

I've always wanted a Newfie! This way, I get to "try one on for size." Ebony has a wonderfully sweet and gentle disposition for a 10 year old dog. She's just so big--like a small bear!

It's funny to think of Maggie, my 85-pound Newfie-mix as a mid-size dog. She also has a sweet, loving, gentle, (and these days joyful) disposition. Maggie is happy to have another dog on the premises. She's a dog's dog. Purty, the youngest and smallest, mistakenly thinks she's in charge.

Light!

This photo was taken Christmas Day in the Cedar Swamp.

How nice to come home at 5 pm and see sunlight after work again! Daylight Savings is back! It's been light until 7 pm since we "sprang ahead" last weekend.

All winter, I haven't had much of an urge/longing/ache to skate. So I've taken a break for a few months, knowing full-well that the feeling would return someday. Who knew that all it would take was a little natural sunlight?

I Want to be a Whale ...

These could be home movies. ;-) I consider Humpbacks and the Whale Nation as my Family. The hey-day of whaling was our great haulocaust ...

Did you hear that even the Humpbacks off of Hawaii were happy about Obabma's innauguration? You Tube is so cool!
